Painting and exhaustion ....

So got up yesterday morning at 9am (so a little sleep in) and started the undercoat for the room. After 4 hours, sore shoulders, blisters, aching legs and back and vertigo from the 3rd step of the ladder from the ground (lol but I kid you not) the undercoat was done.

Oh and there is a close up of my new floor :-)

Then up at 9am Sunday morning to finish the job. Now I can barely move but at least it finished!! Just need the lights and powerpoint to be done hopefully before the warddrobe goes in this Wednesday!!!!! Hopefully the final touch is Charlie finishes the architraves and skirting boards and it will be all finished!!!!!!!!!!

The colour is a bit hard to see in the light (or lack thereof) but it's the same lovely beige as my new bedroom :-)

Gyprocking finished....

Thankfully the gyprockers are now finished. They arrived at 8.30am and left about half an hour ago. Now it needs to dry, sanded and painted and Charlie will put down the floor hopefully one day through the week. Then the only other major thing to do is to have the wardrobe fitted - which I will find out timing for that tomorrow :-)

The front of the house certainly looks different without the front windows. Must say I really like it :-)

Progress as @ 21/6/14 - Getting so close!!!!

So I asked Charlie yesterday if it was the same time start today as it was last week (7.30am) however I got the reply that he would be there to start at 7.00am o.o

Oh well, I would have been up at midnight if it meant we were closer to finishing. Through the week, I had approved the wardrobe design and he advised that the existing floor would require replacing as it wasn't strong/solid enough. He put down plastic to stop any breeze and or moisture and then put down the yellow tongue floor, before he adds the floating floor next week.

He took the windows out and got the room ready for the gyprocking. I had to leave to take Kasey to basketball at 1pm so Jared stayed here with Granma to supervise the works. When we got home, we saw that the windows were nearly covered over and Charlie told me that Joel the gyprocker was coming to do his thang at 4.30pm. Due to heavy traffic, the team of 5 or so arrived and were finished by 7.20pm. The final setting will be done tomorrow morning at around 8-8.30am. Oh well. As a very hot young rocker once said, I'll sleep when I'm dead.... ;-)

Charlie - The Saviour (14/6/14)

Upon seeing the lovely new neighbour, Anthony, I asked him if he knew anyone in his profession (a plumber) that might be able to help me finish the job once and for all. He said his brother, Charlie, should be able to give me a hand!!!! He phoned him then and there and as it was the first game of State of Origin, he was coming around to pick him up to watch the match. The boys both came in and had a look and Charlie said he would be able to start Saturday week. All bar the first weekend because of rain, Charlie showed up - true to his promise on Saturday 14/6/14 and started the room. He was unable to remove the windows due to rain earlier in the day but so far, things were moving along famously!!!!!

It also appears that the very original house verandah was underneath the floor. One can only imagine how old it was for it to have been in the condition that it was in before Pop Burke put the carpet down and made the "sewing room". Fascinating :-)

May the 4th Be With You :-)

I decided that I needed to have some serious security shutters on my lovely bedroom windows. Firstly to block out the light but in addition, privacy, security. And I was so pleased with the way they looked on the house :-)

Progress as at 29/4/14

So have emptied the "once was craft/only storage room" ready for work to be started - this was going to be started by a guy named Carlos that never ever started :-(
Anyhoo, this is the room ready for action :-)
